A Fine and Large Satsuma Vase, Meiji Period (1868-1912). Of ovoid form with short neck and extended, rolled lip, painted in colored enamels and gilt with two large rectangular panels of mallards swimming under wisteria vines by spring flowers, a cockerel, hen, four birds, maples, and autumn flowers, the background of each panel grey with tiny gilt dots. The border gilded key frets, the areas surrounding the panels of lotus scroll and grape vines delineated in gilt and thick enamels of red and blue on a ground of dark blue, the interior of the lip also dark blue and the edge gilt.
Dimensions: Height 15 ¾ inches.
Condition: Very Good
