Paul Sormani Bureau Plat Paris, Circa 1870 satine, amarante, and bois de bout floral marquetry, gilt-tooled claret leather-lined top, three frieze drawers, the lockplate to the central drawer signed Paul Sormani/10 r. Payne, 19th Century European Furniture, pp. 41-42 This elegant Louis XV style bureau plat is closely related to a writing desk made by the celebrated cabinetmaker Pierre Garnier (c.1720-1800), recu maitre en 1742 and sold in the Collection of Charles Wrightsman, Sotheby’s New York, May 5, 1984, lot 214
