A Lombardy Walnut, Tulipwood & Marquetry Commode, Florence Italy, Circa 1780. Decorated with banding, crossbanding & inlaid with Palmette borders on a dark ground. The rectangular quarter-veneered top is centered by a roundel decorated with an Urn & a Mandolin. The top drawer has a frieze which simulates three drawers across, each with conforming Dragons with foliate tails, below two drawers inlaid sans traverse & placed with a centered roundel of youth playing the flute with a dog, the sides are inlaid conformingly. The Commode has Louis XVI style square legs headed by grotytesque Pilasters.
