A Remarkable Painted Wood Group of Two Wrestlers, Meiji Period 1868-1912. Probably intended for Kawazu (no) Saburo Sukeyasu raising his opponent Matano (no) Goro Kagehisha to execute the kawazu throw, applied with natural hair, eyelashes, finger and toe nails, the eyes inlaid in glass and the skin realistically painted on a gesso ground, signed on the sole of one foot Soko, with wood stand.
