Bureau Plat French, Circa 1900 acajou flamee, gilt-tooled green leather writing surface, three spring released frieze drawers, the side and back similarly-decorated on original brass casters. height 30 3/4 in.;width 42 1/2 in.; depth 24 in. Literature: S. de Ricci, Der Stil Louis XVI Mobilier und Raumkunst, p. 106; and D. Alcouffe et al., Furniture Collections in the Louvre, Vol. 1, p.272, for illustrations of similar 18th century models by Riesener. Interestingly, this bureau plat seems to be a wider adaptation of a small writing table made by Jean-Heni Riesener made in circa 1783.
