Linke title: Consoles Louis XV bois sculpte dore.

This is a unique pair of console tables enjoyed by Fran‡ois Linke in his apartment on the Quai Henri IV in Paris. One console was made for Linke?s important client Elias Meyer, order number 1237 in 1909, at a cost of 1,390 francs. A second matching console table was made again by Linke in September 1921, and Linke commissionaed von Belle to remake both marbles in fleur de pˆcher. On Meyer?s death in April 1925, Linke repurchased a large quantity of the furniture he had sold to Meyer for his flat in Grosvenor Square, London, for 348, 660 francs. His handwritten list titled ?Mobilier usage de ma fabrication vendu Monsieur Meyer 16 Grosvenor Square Londres en 1909 que je viens de racheter pour repatri‚ [sic] (old furniture made by me sold in 1909 to Mr. Meyer 16 Grosvenor Square London that I purchased to repatriate?). The entry on Linke?s list is written ?2 Consoles bois dor‚ avec marbe … 1,730= 3,740 (francs).? Unfortunately, the client invoices for the original order of 1909 are missing, therefore there is no record of Meyer?s original purchase price.
