Sold: ˇˇHolding Forthˇˇ by Benjamin Eugene Fichel, French 1826-1895. Oil on panel. Signed & Dated ˇE. Fichel 1875ˇ. Benjamin-Eugne Fichel was a French portrait and genre painter. He entered Lˇ cole des Beaux-Arts in September 1841 and during that time he formed a close working relationship with Delaroche and Drolling. In 1857 and 1869 he was awarded several medals and in 1870 he was made a Chevalier de la Lgion dˇHonneur. His colourful portrait and costume compositions were exhibited at the Paris Salon between 1849 and 1895.
